Max Stowers is a composer, musician from Auckland, Aotearoa New Zealand.

After more than three decades of performing, recording and collaborating, his creative focus is now centred on composing original music. Drawing on a lifetime of listening, performing and collaboration, he creates music for his own recordings, live performance and multidisciplinary projects.

Growing up in a musical family with Samoan and Māori roots, and learning music entirely by ear after being born deaf in one ear, have both shaped his approach to composition. His music is guided by curiosity, honesty and the belief that music is still teaching him.
